New Trade Alert: Arch Therapeutics, Inc. ( ARTH )
The start of 2016 has been remarkable for us.

Brief: ARTH has undergone extended consolidation and now looks ready to return to its heyday where it was pushed to a high of .39. From current levels this means upside opportunity of more than 116% is on the table. Volatility levels have started to rise in recent sessions as ARTH has become the focal point of intense interest in the medical device market which is expected to reach $133B by the end of 2016.
ARTH specializes in developing novel approaches to the problem of bleeding (hemostasis) and leaking (sealant) during surgery and trauma care.
Both issues are a major concern for health professionals that have to deal with more than 53M surgical procedures in the US annually. An estimated 1.14% of those surgical procedures result in death and whilst that percentage may seem small, it translates to roughly 604,000 deaths annually.
ARTH has developed the AC5 Surgical Hemostatic Device™ (AC5™) and so far it’s proven to be quite a game-changer.
Several products already exist to stop bleeding and prevent fluid-loss, but none offer the speed of the AC5. The closest competing product according to ARTH is capable of an average time to hemostasis of 180 seconds.
AC5 stops surgical bleeding in 10 seconds on average.
This makes the product almost peerless in a space that desperately needs effective solutions.
ARTH is poised for expansion in a medical device market that is on course to reach $133B this year. And that’s just the US market.
ARTH Gets Greenlight In Europe For Clinical Trial
Interest in the AC5 is spreading outside the US and ARTH reported in December that it has been given clearance in Western Europe for a human clinical trial.
“The randomized controlled single-blind investigation is designed to assess safety and performance of AC5™ in bleeding wounds created during the course of a dermatological procedure in fewer than 50 patients,” said the report.
"This is an important milestone for the Company as we continue to bring AC5 and our technology platform another step closer to market. We expect to apply for a CE Mark if the data from our study is supportive. We remain committed to completing subsequent clinical trials and expanding the indications for product use," said ARTH President & CEO Dr. Terence Norchi.
ARTH is Dominating The Conference Circuit
In recent weeks ARTH has participated in four investor conferences, the most recent of which was the SeeThruEquity 2nd Annual Innovations Investor Conference held on February 22.
ARTH has smartly created a webcast that will be available for 90 days so investors will have ample time to take a look at the innovative AC5.
As you can imagine these developments are translating into strong interest from trader and investors alike. This has created the perfect storm for a near-term breakout as the technicals below will attest.
ARTH Technicals:
- ARTH made a strong push on July 7 last year where it recorded its 52-week high of .39. The news profile was nowhere near as good as it is now so brace for an even bigger potential jump in valuation.
- Daily volatility has been growing lately and this has laid the foundation for a major breakout.
- ARTH delivered one-day gains of up to 38% on January 15. The 25 cent high was a neat surprise for traders after the play opened at .18.
- Momentum is also picking up. ARTH is now trading with a 49 RSI on the daily chartand is just 5% below the 50 DMA of .19.
Conclusion: ARTH is picking up steam so the current bullish setup and accessible entry of .18 makes it a strong near-term opportunity. The company has received growing interest from investors, and has a product that is proving itself in the marketplace. ARTH is also chasing its 200 DMA of .24 where a possible 33% upside opportunity is on the table in the near-term.
