About - MVRM – Mavericks Minerals Corp.
(Current PPS - $.15)
Maverick Minerals Corporation acquires, explores, and develops prospective oil, gas, and mineral properties. It holds an option to acquire a 51% interest in the Jarvis Island Property that covers an area of approximately 13.355 hectares located in the Thunder Bay District of Ontario, Canada.
The company was formerly known as Pacific Cart Services Ltd. and changed its name to Maverick Minerals Corporation in March 2002. The company was incorporated in 1998 and is based in Toronto, Canada. Maverick Minerals Corporation is a subsidiary of Energold Minerals Inc.
In one of their newer projects, Maverick entered into an option and Joint Venture Exploration Agreement dated June 8, 2012 with Energold Minerals Inc. (“Energold”). Energold holds a 100% undivided right, title and interest in a group of mining claims situated in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada known as the Jarvis Island Property (the “Jarvis Property”).
The Island is situated about 35 miles south of Thunder Bay about 5 km from the shore of Lake Superior near to the U.S. border (Minnesota). The property consists of 13.355 hectares and is believed to have mineral potential for the production of barite.
The mineral potential for MVRM is huge. Jarvis Island is comprised largely of diabase and argillites. A vein 10 to 15 ft. in width of calcite, quartz and barite cuts across the eastern end of the island with a north-south orientation with a clip of 50 to the east.
In 1927 Mr. J. G. Cross, Mining Engineer of Port Arthur, conducted an analysis of barium sulphate from Jarvis Island. The sample was collected by Cross and analyzed at the Inco plant at Sudbury. There are known occurrences of Barite on Thompson Island and Spar Island some miles further south of Jarvis Island.
Market Outlook
Barite is used as a weighting agent in oil industry drilling muds and as a higher value industrial filler for use in the paints and other products.
White paint-grade barite is the highest-value use for barite having significant sales volumes. Off-white barite is used as a lower value mineral filler and high volumes of low grade barite are used as a weighting agent in drilling mud in the oil and gas industry.
Barite is also used as a filler, extender, or weighting agent in products such as paints, plastics, and rubber. Some specific applications include its use in automobile brake and clutch pads and automobile paint primer for metal protection and gloss, and to add weight to rubber mudflaps on trucks and to the cement jacket around underwater petroleum pipelines.
In the metal-casting industry, barite is part of the mold-release compounds. Because barite significantly blocks x-ray and gamma-ray emissions, it is used as aggregate in high-density concrete for radiation shielding around x-ray units in hospitals, nuclear powerplants, and university nuclear research facilities. Ultrapure barite consumed as liquid is used as a contrast medium in medical x-ray examinations.
With the expanding usage of more environmentally friendly and efficient production technologies in the oil and gas sectors and fast-tempo Asia-Pacific barite production growth the overall global barite market is expected to demonstrate sustainable increase rates in future.
