Eco Building Products Re-Focuses the Company's Product Line into a Core Suite of Defensive Lumber Products
Red Shield Advanced Framing Lumber remains the Company's hallmark product, protecting against fire, mold, termites and rot. Red Shield Fire Treated offers Class A fire protection for DF dimensional lumber. Red Shield Sill Plate protects against fungal decay, termite infestation and mold.
ISTA, Calif., July 30, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Eco Building Products, Inc., (ECOB) announced today that the Company's new Management Team had taken steps to rationalize its product line in order to drive focus and cohesion across its operations and simplicity of the Company's messaging in the marketplace. The Company is reformulating the recipes of its core suite of products as follows:
- Red Shield AFL (Advanced Framing Lumber) protects wood products from fire, mold, termites and wood rot.
- Red FT (Fire treated) offers Class A fire protection for Douglas Fir dimensional lumber.
- Red Shield SP (Sill Plate) meets Building Code requirements for fungal decay and termiteShield resistance per ICC-ES ESR #3255 with value added mold protection.
"Upon joining the Company it became readily apparent to me that we needed to limit our focus and attention to those things which have the best potential to drive positive results, the fastest. This pertains to products as well as activities," said Tom Comery, Eco's new President and CEO. "The Team had little difficulty narrowing our product line to a core suite of defensive products that we believe will resonate with our customers and at price points that the market will bear." Mr. Comery went on to add that, "part of the exercise was to better understand our prospective customers, potential competitive products and most importantly, minimum acceptable margins required to give our shareholders an attractive return on their investment. We recognize that not every application requires every protection." "The new focus and discipline affords me more time in the lab over the past six weeks than I had in the previous six months before Tom's arrival," said Mark Vuozzo, Eco's Chief Technical Officer. "Our chemistry lends itself to many potential product line extensions, so many in fact that the possibilities led us to take our eyes off the ball and lose sight of our primary objective which is to generate profitable revenue now." Mark went on to add, "More than at any other time in my tenure at Eco, I have the support and platform to develop what we believe will be new, breakthrough products in a very specific, disciplined manner."

ABOUT ECO
ECO BUILDING PRODUCTS, INC.
Necessity is the Mother of Invention That saying could never be more true for Eco. Eco was founded in 2005 as EcoBlu Products resultant of the need for dramatic change in the lumber and building industry. EcoBlu has now evolved with better products, chemistry and protection into Eco Building Products, Inc. The Leader in Lumber Protection Eco is the premier manufacturer of proprietary wood products coated with Eco Red Shield™, our exclusive eco-friendly chemistry that protects against mold, rot-decay, termites and now fire. Lumber is back as the best building material and invite you to learn more about our products, as well as what makes today's framing lumber different and more susceptible to mold, termites and fire.
Focused on Sustainability From the beginning Eco has been focused on the environment, being sustainable, green and ahead of the curve when it comes to health standards and fire safety. Our ultimate goal is keeping families around the world healthy and safe in their own home and to help protect the environment for generations to come. Thining for our children's children rather than ourselves.
Black Mold
Black mold grows when lumber is stored outside waiting to be used. This mold doesn't need a flood to grow mycotoxins, it can birth them at 30% humidity - mycotoxins that can get in your ventilation system that can cause allergies and even poison a human. Eco Red Shield™ Protection will not allow it to grow behind your walls as a silent killer.
Termites
Termites are the silent killer that costs US homeowners billions of dollars in repairs annually. Termite damage cannot be repaired, it must be replaced. Once termites infest a home the only solution is tent it. Of course, then you are exposing your home to toxins from the pesticides. In any event, termites are a serious problem and something to consider when building your new home.
Water
Water is usually the root of all evil when it comes to lumber problems in your home. Wet lumber swells, bows and expands - which can cause cosmetic as well as structural damage. Wet lumber also is the ideal place to grow mold which is toxic to humans.
Green Lumber
Being 'green' isn't always a good thing. Green, or freshly processed lumber, contains high levels of moisture and therefore grows mold at a rapid rate. Builders and contractors around the world are using this lumber when quite honestly - they shouldn't be. Mold is not only unhealthy for humans it's also not good for lumber. Over time mold turns into wood-rot - actually destroying the wood fibers and load carrying capabiities in the process.
Fire
Fire causes more damage annually to homes in the US than earthquakes, tornadoes and hurricanes combined. Most fires are started by accidents or product failure of some kind - and wildfires are a danger to many folks here in the West. Smoke inhalation is the most deadly part of any fire - especially in a home.
Flooding
Flood water from tropical storms, tidal surges and rising rivers are becoming more common all over the world. Flood water can be devastating for a home and the lumber it's built with.
Earthquakes
Earthquakes and even minor seismic movement can have a major effect on structures built with brick and mortar.
Hurricanes & Tropical Storms
The water and high-winds associated with a hurricane or tropical storm are what make them so dangerous to homes and the lumber they are bult with.
