AMPW hasn't been active for very long which makes this a prime opportunity to look at something fresh. Make sure AMPW is on your watch lists incase the momentum picks up.
This could be part of the Santa Claus Rally: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Santa_Claus_rally The demand for coal is expected to increase for the next twenty years which puts AMPW into a pretty vital sector. AMPW CEO Al Valencia stated, "We are very excited with the progress of operations to date and with the general state of the coal market. Walter Energy's recent acquisition of Western Coal for $3.2 billion and Rio Tinto's recent offer of $3.5 billion for African coal producer Riversdale Mining, show how strong the coal market is at the moment." There's no denying that Warren Buffet is a successful investor. His money speaks in volumes. Last year in November Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway made a $34 billion investment in acquiring the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway (BNSF). Many analysts have said this acquisition is a huge bet on the future of coal in America. This is America's largest railway network, and it happens to be near AMPW's acreage! AMPW's Pace Coal Project near Lehigh, Montana is located along the BNSF railway network which will give the project access to growing export markets through both the existing and newly proposed coal loading facilities. AMPW can readily supply coal to both national and international customers because of this. Coal hauled by the BNSF powers one in ten homes in the United States and according to BNSF figures, over 90% of that coal is from the Powder River Basin in Wyoming and Montana. AMPW's 410+ million ton PACE Coal Project in Judith Basin County, Montana positions them to become a significant domestic energy provider. With average prices for Bituminous coal in the 12,500 BUT ange being roughly $65.00/ton (based on prices between May and July 2010) the scope of the Pace Coal Project is very substantial! According to mii.org, every American born will need 542,968 pounds of coal in their life time. Coal provides 50% of America's electricity needs. What would we do without electricity? Electricity plays a big part of almost everyone's daily routine. Imagine no light bulbs, no TVs, no ovens, no heaters, no air conditioners, and no refrigerators. Life would be tough. According to BP Statistical Review of World Energy 2009, nearly 30% of the world's total proved coal reserves is in the U.S. The U.S. is often referred to as the Saudia Arabia of coal. According to the US Energy Information Administration (EIA), out of all the states, Montana has the largest reserve base and was ranked 5th by production in 2008 with 44.8 million tons of coal produced from six major lines! There's a growing demand in Asia for coal in both China and India. As demand increases in Asia, so could the price being paid by Asia for Western US coal, the kind potentially found at AMPW's Pace Coal Project! The EIA predicts that coal use in China's electricity sector will increase at an average rate of 3.5% per year between 2007 and 2035. The EIA has predicted that India will see 56% of increased coal consumption stemming from the electric power sector! The U.S. is helping meet the growing demand in Asia by shipping Powder River basin coal from Montana and Wyoming to Asia via Vancouver, Canada. Exports to Asia in Q1 and Q2 of this year grew by nearly 400% over 2009 levels! AMPW announced news last week that they've closed a financing agreement for total gross proceeds of $10 million through a 2.5-year stock issuance agreement with a European institutional investor. The agreement includes a warrant component that could provide an additional $10 million to AMPW over the coming years! AMPW CEO Al Valencia commented, "The funding received to date has been primarily used to kick-start the exploration and development of the Pace Coal project. This financing agreement will be key for us going forward as it provides the necessary funding to advance our flagship project, as well as to seek and acquire additional properties of merit to our portfolio." "We continue to advance towards our ultimate goal of taking the Pace Coal project back into production, for the benefit of Montana, America and our shareholders," Valencia further said.
